Ashley Leggat was born on September 26, 1986, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Her career began early, with theatre and dance forming the foundation of her performance work before she became widely known to television audiences.
She trained through Theatre Aquarius’s Performing Arts Program and made an early professional stage appearance as Marta in The Sound of Music. Her stage background later included productions connected with classic family and musical theatre titles such as The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Cinderella, Anne of Green Gables, Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang, Jekyll & Hyde and The Wizard of Oz.
On screen, Leggat became especially recognizable as Casey McDonald in Life with Derek, a Family Channel series that ran for four seasons and later continued through Vacation with Derek and Life with Luca. Her credits also include films, television movies, guest roles, web series and theatre work.
